Transfer Credits

For information on transferring study abroad credits, please see Study Abroad: Transferring Credit.

Washington State community and technical college students: see the UW Equivalency Guide to find out how your courses will transfer.

The Undergraduate Admissions Office awards transfer credit from previous college work. If you feel that a transfer course should be listed under a general education or NELC requirement contact the Undergraduate Advisor. Please be prepared to provide some form of documentation from your course, such as a syllabus. Only those courses that have been awarded transfer credit by the Admissions Office can be considered for general education or NELC credit.

Transferred language credits will not count toward the NELC degree requirements and students will not be permitted to enroll in language courses beyond the introductory course until they have taken a language proficiency exam. Each language has different policies for evaluating proficency. Students may need to plan as far in advance as the summer prior to enrolling in UW. Please see the NELC Undergraduate Advisor about the specific procedure to follow.
