Title: Standardizing morphine for sedation in ventilated premie in the UW NICU Background: Evidence does not support routine use of sedation for ventilated premature infants however our practice over the past 5 years has not been in line with this evidence.

Objective: To decrease prolonged use of pharmacologic sedation via developing and implementing a nursing-driven protocol to guide unit practice.

Title: Metabolic Profile Analysis of Primates With Perinatal Hypoxia-Ischemia Using Two- Dimensional Gas Chromatography- Time- of- Mass Spectroscopy*

Background: Using the non-human primate model, we are studying the effects of perinatal hypoxia-ischemia on the metabolome, and the response of the metabolome to recombinant erythropoietin (rEpo) treatment with or without hypothermia.

Objective: To study the effects of perinatal asphyxia on newborn primate metabolome, evaluate the response of the metabolome after recombinant erythropoietin (rEpo) treatments, and compare data to neurodevelopmental outcome in 6-9 months.
