Project 1: Chronic kidney disease in disadvantaged populations
To characterize the structure of medical care for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the urban health care safety-net and to examine the influence of individual-, provider- and health system-level determinants of access to CKD care and progression to ESRD in these populations.
Project 2: Disparities in end-stage renal disease among underserved populations
To examine the associations of individual-, facility- and community-level factors including health insurance coverage, residential poverty, and dialysis facility performance on mortality, morbidity and access to kidney transplantation in traditionally underserved populations.
