Clinical Interests
- Her clinical interests and experience are broad and encompass cancer genetics, neurogenetics, genetics of cardiomyopathies, and genetics of autism. She has received an “All
- Star” commendation for excellence in patient care from Yale New Haven Hospital.
Research Interests
- She has a long standing research interest in the genetics of aging (Werner syndrome), and pediatric and adult neurogenetic diseases. She has been a member of the American Federation for Aging Research National Scientific Advisory Council since 2004. Her current research interests include the genetics of polyposis, the genetics of autism and other neurological disorders, and atypical progeroid syndromes (premature aging).
Biography
Dr. Hisama is Medical Director of the Genetic Medicine Clinic, and joined the Division in 2009. She was Chief Resident of Neurology at Yale New Haven Hospital, and has received a Lucille P. Markey Physician Scientist Fellowship, a John A. Hartford Foundation Award in Aging, and was named a Paul Beeson Physician Faculty Scholar.
