Congratulations to Tatiana Anderson! Tatiana, who graduated in June, 2017 with a Ph.D from the Neuroscience Graduate Program, was awarded the UW Graduate School’s prestigious and highly competitive Dissertation Award, which recognizes ‘outstanding and exceptional scholarship and research’, for her work in Nino Ramirez’ laboratory at the Seattle Children’s ResearchInstitute. Tatiana’s dissertation research addressed the circuits in the brainstem underlying the control of the different phases of respiration. Specifically, she discovered a small set of neurons that drive the post-inspiratory portion of the breathing rhythm.
