Neurology Newsletter - Winter 2013

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Neurotransmissions, the UW Department of Neurology newsletter. Since becoming an independent department in 1996, we have grown in size and in the diversity of our activities. The field of neurology itself has become more complex and exciting. Staying connected with one another has never been more important—or more challenging. Thus, we are pleased to have this new way to share information with colleagues, alumni and friends.

2012 Adult Residency Program Retreat

The adult residents spend a warm Seattle day out on Puget Sound as part of their first annual all Resident Retreat. Special thanks to the faculty covering the inpatient services at UWMC, HMC, and VAS for making this day happen! Division Spotlight

Neuromuscular diseases encompass a number of conditions that affect the peripheral nerves, neuromuscular junction, motor neurons, and muscle. Take a look at the great information that Dr. Michael Weiss, Director of the Neuromuscular Diseases Division, and his team provide.

Multiple Sclerosis Center

The new Multiple Sclerosis Center is a state of the art facility offering a full range of services for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients including diagnosis and treatment. Our healthcare providers and staff are knowledgeable about current research methods, disease treatments, rehabilitation treatments and experimental treatments.

Division of Pediatric Neurology

The Division of Pediatric Neurology is a center of clinical and academic excellence. Originally founded as a program within the Department of Pediatrics, the Division of Pediatric Neurology has been a part of the Department of Neurology since 1995, with most faculty members having joint or adjunct appointments with the Department of Pediatrics.
