Residency Program

Rehabilitation Medicine Rotation Information

There are many opportunities for learning within the department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Electrodiagnostic studies (EMG/NCV) can be studied with the residents as a combination inpatient/outpatient rotation. Consultations and weekly conferences occur with Dr. Lawrence Robinson during this period. Neurology residents are paired with a Rehabilitation Medicine resident to further enhance the learning experience. There is a regional Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation Center located at the University of Washington, and interested residents can rotate under the tutelage of Dr. George Kraft. Multiple outpatient clinics provide a diverse experience as well as a view of Neurology patients not often seen otherwise during residency training. There is close cooperation with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy during this time. Many of our Neurology patients are also managed with the help of the Rehabilitation Medicine teams, and this rotation provides a valuable lesson in continuity of care and outcomes from Neurologic disease.
