Fellowship Description: This 2-year fellowship (year 3 optional), based at the Seattle VA Medical Center, involves training in the clinical evaluation and management of movement disorder patients, such as those with Parkinson's Disease, Parkinson-plus syndromes, tremor, dystonia, ataxia, Huntington's Disease, and other movement disorders. Fellows will learn how to inject botulinum toxin for hemifacial spasm and dystonias, including blepharospasm, cervical dystonia, and limb dystonias. Training will be provided in the screening, programming, and post-operative management of patients undergoing deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery for movement disorders. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of research including clinical trials, genetic, epidemiological, and histopathological studies, proteomic biomarker discovery, and investigations using model organisms.
