Dr. Kathleen Bell received her M.D. from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia and completed her training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Washington. She is currently the medical director of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program at the University of Washington Medical Center and acts as the attending physician for rehabilitation outpatients and patients hospitalized on the rehab unit at UWMC who have brain tumors, brain injuries, or strokes. Dr. Bell and others from the rehab team attend the Neuro-oncology Tumor Board meetings to provide continuity of care for their patients as they work towards regaining function and independence. Her research interests lie in investigating the optimal methods for providing continuing support and rehabilitation services for persons with brain injuries after they leave the hospital and in alternative settings for the provision of rehabilitation care. Dr. Bell has organized educational sessions at national meetings and authored continuing medical educational materials about the rehabilitation issues of persons with brain tumors for rehabilitation professionals.
