David
Mankoff, M.D., Ph.D. Dr. David Mankoff received his MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He also received a PhD from the Univesity of Pennsylvania in bioengineering. His PhD thesis focused on instrumentation for Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Dr. Mankoff received training in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Washington and is board-certified in both specialties. He joined the Division of Nuclear Medicine faculty in 1996 and is currently Assistant Professor. His clinical interests include general Nuclear Medicine, PET, and thyroid cancer treatment. His research interests cover the application of nuclear tracer methods to the diagnosis of cancer, the measurement of cancer treatment effectiveness, and the investigation of mechaninisms of treatment response and resistance. Dr. Mankoff works with Dr. Spence in the experimental studies of labeled thymidine and PET to characterize malignant brain tumors. He also works with Drs. Spence and Stelzer in on a protocol where PET is used to help define regions for high dose radiotherapy in patients with high grade brain tumors. Dr. Mankoff attends the weekly neuro-oncology tumor board to provide assistance on the interpretation of PET and Nuclear Medicine studies.
