Treatment Strategies:
Other types of Radiation Treatment Other methods of delivering radiation therapy may include Radiation Seed Implants or Radiosurgery: Radiation Seed Implants, (Brachytherapy), involve placing small radioactive seeds directly around the tumor bed after the brain tumor has been removed. This enables the physician to deliver a high dose of radiation to the tumor bed. Radiosurgery is a method of delivering radiation treatment to tumors that meet specific criterion with regard to size and location. With this type of radiation treatment a precisely focused high dose beam of radiation can be delivered to a small tumor. Because gliomas tend to be diffuse in nature, this treatment is often not an option for these tumors, however it may be useful if the tumor is small. If you are wondering if these treatments might be useful in your situation, you can discuss this with your physician. For more information on Radiosurgery, please "Click here"
