Founded in 1907 as the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, Seattle Children's Hospital, has become one of the premier children’s health care facilities in the United States.

As both a community hospital for greater Seattle and the pediatric referral center for the Pacific Northwest, Children's Hospital provides, directly or in partnership with others, excellent pediatric care, education and research programs (with the University of Washington). Children's Hospital is an advocate on behalf of health care needs for children at local, state and national levels.

The neurosurgery service at Seattle Children's supervises the multidisciplinary care and treatment of pediatric brain tumors, craniofacial abnormalities, developmental disorders of spine, and hydrocephalus. Due to its international reputation, patients from around the world are referred to Children's Hospital for surgical treatment of congenital defects, craniosynostosis, brain tumors and scoliosis.
