Ankle clonus

Ankle clonus is repetitive muscle contraction produced by stretching. The examiner dorsiflexes the foot rapidly; when clonus is present the foot beats up and down repeatedly. Production of clonus is considered positive for spinal cord impingement, chronic spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, injury to cerebrum or congenital abnormalities.
