Prevertebral Soft Tissues

Abnormally increased prevertebral soft tissue on lateral cervical X-ray may indicate the presence of a vertebral fracture, dislocation, or ligamentous disruption.

- At the C2 level, the distance from the anterior-inferior vertebral body to the retropharynx should not exceed 7 mm

- At the inferior level of the C6 vertebral body, this interval should not exceed 22 mm (in children 14 mm)
