NEUROLOGY OPPORTUNITY
Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Enjoy living in a city judged by Money Magazine as the “best place to live in America” for its quality of life, including its low crime rate, high-quality education, clean air and water, lack of traffic congestion, and friendly residents.  Sioux Falls is South Dakota’s largest city with a population of 200,000.  Because South Dakota has no corporate income tax, NO STATE INCOME TAX, and no business inventory tax, over 3,500 new jobs are created each year with new businesses and expansions of existing businesses.

NEUROLOGY ASSOCIATES
This is an outstanding opportunity to expand in the field of neurology in a progressive and vibrant community located in southeastern South Dakota.   Neurology Associates, a group of six neurologists in private practice, was founded in the early 1980s and is the premier group of neurologists in the region. The group is seeking neurologists with fellowship training to bring additional skills to their group and to help with a growing population in the four-state region of South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.

High quality medical community together with low malpractice rates makes this an excellent opportunity for a neurologist who would like to be busy from day one. Academic opportunities with a University Medical School provide teaching opportunities without undo workload.

AVERA MCKENNAN HOSPITAL & UNIVERSITY HEALTH CENTER

Avera McKennan is a 545-bed, non-profit, Catholic facility and the regional referral center for the Avera Health System and surrounding five-state area. Our Careflight helicopter, ground and fixed wing aircraft transport patients from a service area with a population of 800,000 to our Level II Trauma Center. With over 600 physicians on staff in all specialties and 5000 employees, the hospital offers a full range of services including the region's only burn unit, renal and pancreatic transplant program, and bone marrow transplant program.  Avera McKennan is a designated Magnet Hospital and a Healthgrades Distinguished Clinical Hospital.

West / Hospital Employed Neurology Position in Southeast Idaho
« Last post by Robert on April 18, 2013, 10:54:23 AM »
“Gateway to the Northwest” - This metropolitan area is located in southeast Idaho, nestled at 4,448 feet in the western foothills of the Rocky Mountains alongside the Oregon Trail.
Founded in 1889, this city is known as the “Gateway to the Northwest”.  As the pioneers, gold miners and settlers traveled the Oregon Trail, they passed through the Portneuf Gap south of town. Shortly after the institution of the city, the area was then flooded with civilization, stage lines, freight lines and the construction of the railroad. This meant the town was about to turn into a trade center as well as transportation junction. Thus explaining why Forbes recognized this town as a “Best Small Place for Business” for five consecutive years. The city has also ranked one of the top ten small places to move and raise a family.
This town has an unusually desirable four-season climate where clear, sunny and dry is the norm.  Our 32 parks, Museum of Natural History, Fort Hall Replica, several golf courses, Rose Park Aquatic Complex, Nordic Center, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hiking trails, and the Pocatello Zoo are just a few of the attractions that will keep you busy!
•   Hospital Employed
•   Excellent Base Salary
•   Full Benefits

Mayo Clinic is pleased to announce the opening of a two-year Neurocritical Care Fellowship beginning in July 2013. We are now recruiting fellows for July 2014. Mayo Clinic also offers a one-year Neurohospitalist Fellowship with applications accepted on a rolling basis.  If you have neurology residents who are interested in Neurocritical Care or Neurohospitalist Medicine Fellowship please contact Dr. W. David Freeman, M.D. the Neurocritical Care Fellowship Director, or Dr. Kevin Barrett, the Neurohospitalist Fellowship Director, and Ms. Rachel White, Program Coordinator at the emails below.  Feel free to forward this information to any residents you think might be interested as well.

The Mayo Neurocritical care fellowship is a 2-year fellowship which will provide excellent clinical training and procedural skills in the intensive care unit setting.  Fellows will demonstrate the ability to manage critically ill patients primarily with neurological and neurosurgical disorders, as well as rotate through other ICU settings such as medical, surgical, transplant and trauma ICU’s.  Fellows will demonstrate proficiency in a variety of procedures including basic and advanced airway/intubation, mechanical ventilation, central venous lines, arterial lines, percutaneous tracheostomy, lumbar drains/punctures, intrathecal procedures, TCD, and EEG.  There is also a one-month rotation in the operating room to learn neuroanesthesia and intraoperative physiology and management. There is also up to 6 months of electives or research. Fellows are encouraged to pursue research, and Mayo has a number of intramural and extramural (NIH K grant) mechanisms that are possible for fellows to obtain in terms of career development with clinical or bench research mentors.

The Neurohospitalist Fellowship at Mayo Clinic Florida is designed to provide the trainee with clinical and procedural skills necessary for efficient delivery of high quality care to patients with acute neurologic illness and acute neurologic complications of inpatient general medical and surgical conditions.   The curriculum includes developing proficiency with remote telepresence technology, transcranial Doppler, and EEG.  At the conclusion of the fellowship, the trainee will be well-prepared to provide timely and evidence-based therapies for a wide-spectrum of neurological disease processes in an academic or community setting. The trainee will be prepared to lead quality-improvement initiatives, outcomes-based research projects, and direct efforts for achievement of institutional accreditation for primary stroke center certification by Joint Commission.

Candidates must have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in the United States or Canada, be board-eligible in Neurology, and have a license to practice in the state of Florida by July 1st of the fellowship year.
