The Yale Department of Neurology is now offering a 2-year fellowship program in Behavioral Neurology, and we were hoping you could alert your current residents to this opportunity. We are still taking applications for 2014-15, and would strongly encourage your residents to apply.
In brief, our behavioral neurology fellowship program is GME approved, and will be UCNS accredited this Fall. It is designed as a 2-year fellowship where fellows will spend half their time doing clinical work, and half their time working on a research project. We currently have 1 fellow in the program.
Clinically, Yale has a very strong neuroscience program. We have 5 neurologists and 1 psychiatrist specializing in behavioral neurology, of which about half are UCNS certified in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry. The clinical experience will consist of a mix of behavioral neurology clinics, geriatric psychiatry, and inpatient consultative work. Fellows will be closely supervised by a behavioral neurology attending through most of their clinical activities. Apart from seeing a broad spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders and neuropsychiatric syndromes, our fellows will also be trained in neuropsychological testing and imaging/biomarker analysis. A formal lecture series will occur throughout the academic year.
From a research perspective, Yale has a rich tradition in neurodegenerative disorders. Fellows will be exposed to numerous ongoing projects, and will be able to pursue their individual research interests within this existing framework. We recognize that not all neurologists entering a fellowship program will end up at academic institutions, and thus we are flexible in tailoring the fellowship according to the individual fellow's interests.
Please distribute my contact informations should any of your current or future residents be interested in our program.
Thank you for your help.
