Overall Program Objectives

Phase 1. To determine current understanding of the problem we will:

Identify the documented and hypothesized impacts of ferry docks on juvenile salmon

Compile, summarize, and evaluate evidence for potential impacts

Recommend research foci to resolve outstanding questions regarding impacts

Phase 2. Based on recommendations from Phase 1:

Conduct research to evaluate mechanisms and magnitude of ferry terminal impacts on juvenile salmon

Phase 3. Prepare a final document which will:

Summarize synthesis and research phases of the study

Recommend solutions for minimal impact of future terminal construction/expansion

Suggest mitigation practices for present and future terminal impacts
