Relatively few records have been published concerning the breeding of this species in Ecuador, and there is no information concerning its breeding habits in other parts of its range. An adult Rufous-crowned Tody-Flycatcher (Poicilotriccus ruficeps) feeds its nestlings at the Yanayacu Biological Station in north-eastern Ecuador.
