Research Focus: I am interested in the natural history of birds, especially the nesting and foraging ecology of birds in the tropics. I am particularly interested in foraging ecology (e.g., resource partitioning, foraging specialization) and community organization along an Andean elevational gradient.

Research Focus: I use a field-based research program in combination with molecular methods and population modeling in order to test ecological and evolutionary theory and improve understanding of the population biology of threatened species, primarily amphibians. I am particularly interested in understanding the processes that promote population persistence and divergence, as these are topics of central importance for both basic research and conservation. I have active research projects in tropical South America and the Northwest U.S.

Research Focus: My interests are broad and include A: natural history and larval behavior of skipper butterflies B: natural history and nesting behavior of neotropical birds, especially passerines and apodiforms C: natural history and population dynamics of plant-held aquatic habitats (phytotelmata), especially in fallen palm bracts. Using natural history and behavioral observations, my research focuses on creating the building blocks necessary for the development of broad evolutionary theories and the implementation of sound conservation practices.

Research Focus: I am interested in (1) natural history and breeding biology of birds, particularly in the tropics, (2) causes of geographic variation in diversity, focusing on latitudinal and elevational gradients, (3) how species interact and coexist within communities, (4) population divergence leading to speciation, & (5) local adaptation. My research uses intensive natural history data to address broad questions in nature.
