About the Center: The Alabama/North Carolina STD/HIV Prevention and Training Center (PTC) is a regional collaboration between a group of nationally respected experts in STD training and research. The center is comprised of faculty and staff from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), the University of North Carolina (UNC), the Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) and the North Carolina Department of Health (NCDOH). Utilizing faculty from each collaborating institution we provide regional STD/HIV prevention training for the Southern Region of the United States at two state-of-the-art STD Clinics strategically located between university and health department facilities. Faculty and staff travel to other locations for further educational activities within the region to improve STD/HIV care. Additionally, the AL/NC PTC partners with other agencies such as: the Southeast AIDS Training and Education Center (SEATEC), the Delta Region AIDS Training and Education Center, the Texas/Oklahoma AIDS Education and Training Center, state and local health departments in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, North and South Carolina, Region IV and VI Infertility Prevention Programs and local community health organizations to provide didactic education and experiential training. |
