The University of Washington offers fellowship training under a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for individuals with an interest in pursuing research and academic careers in the primary medical care disciplines of general internal medicine, family medicine, and general pediatrics. This NRSA award is administered by the Public Health Service.

The UW fellowship was part of the first group of newly funded fellowships nationwide in primary medical care and is currently in its fourth five-year cycle. The training program is a joint project of the Departments of Medicine, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics, and the School of Public Health.

The two-year fellowship is designed to provide methodologic skill acquisition in addition to research experience with an established investigator. Most fellows will be enrolled concurrently in the Master of Public Health program, majoring in either Health Services or Epidemiology.

The NRSA fellowship is a two-year program and begins on July 1 of any given year.
