Announcements

Congratulations to Johanna Lampe, recipient of the School of Public Health Outstanding Mentor Award for 2009!

This school-wide award is given once per year. This award recognizes Johanna's outstanding work with graduate students and is a testament to her dedicated and caring approach to mentoring.

Congratulations to Heather Marshburn, recipient of the Ruth Lenore Harris Scholarship!

"Heather is currently a graduate student at the University of Washington, majoring in Nutritional Sciences. Her outstanding academic performance is supported through her maintenance of a 3.86 cumulative GPA. Her first goal is to become a Registered Dietitian, then to work in a clinical setting at a hospital. Eventually, she hopes to also pursue dietetics research and teaching at the university level. Heather was described by one instructor as "an outstanding research assistant" and by others as having strong leadership potential. For example, her analytical and writing skills were described as excellent when she, as a research assistant at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, drafted agendas and minutes for the investigator meeting on their "Adipose Biology" study. We are proud to have Heather enter and blossom within the dietetics profession."*

Congratulations to Erin Hoge, Outstanding Student in a Coordinator Program in Dietetics"

"Erin is currently completing her Master of Science, Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics at the University of Washington and anticipates graduating in August, 2009. Erin is described by her instructors as a true leader. Her preceptor at Overlake Medical Center describes Erin as "exceptionally responsible and dependable." WSDA is honored to have Erin serving on ADA's Student Council as one of 20 students from across the country to provide input and recommendations to ADA. She took a leadership role on a social marketing project for National Nutrition Month. WSDA is pleased to recognize Erin; we are sure to hear great things from her in the future."*
