Tracks in the Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics (GCPD)

There are two options for prospective students:

Track # 1: Students who need both the coursework and the supervised practice. These students are applying for the Graduate Program in Nutritional Sciences and the GCPD for both the dietetic coursework and the supervised practice.
Track # 2: Students who have already completed their dietetic coursework from an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and have received their DPD  verification form or will have the form when they are enrolled at the UW.   These students are applying for the Graduate Program in Nutritional  Sciences and the GCPD for the supervised practice.

Please note, applicants applying to either Track of the GCPD must also apply and be accepted into a degree program (MS or MPH) in Nutritional Sciences. Please see Nutritional Sciences Admissions Requirements for information on applying.

 GCPD Application

Students must apply to the Graduate Program in Nutrition Sciences and the GCPD. Acceptance into the GCPD is conditioned on acceptance to the Nutrition Sciences Program.

Application to the Nutritional Sciences:

  • Obtain the current Nutritional Sciences application.

  • As outlined by the Nutritional Sciences Application, request references from advisors, faculty, and/or employers as needed. There is no format provided for the letters of recommendation. No additional reference letters are needed for the GCPD.

  • As outlined by the Nutritional Sciences Application, submit your transcripts. If the undergraduate degree or prerequisites have not been completed by the deadline for application, outline your plan for completing the courses before starting our program and submit final transcripts to the Nutritional Sciences program before beginning graduate studies and the GCPD.

  • Complete the application according to the instructions provided and submit all materials through the online system before January 15.

Application to the GCPD -both Track 1 and Track 2:

  • Complete the application to the GCPD.

  • Submit the application through the same online system as the Nutritional Sciences Application.

  • Deadline for all application materials is January 15.

  • Qualified applicants may be contacted for a telephone interview during the admissions process.

Application to the GCPD - Track 2 additional application requirement

  • GCPD Track 2 - only :  Prospective students who will complete their didactic coursework before enrollment at the UW GCPD must submit a "Declaration of Intent to Complete" form from the current Director of their Didactic Program in Dietetics.  This form outlines what courses they still have to complete prior to receiving their verification form.  The form attests to the fact that they are eligible to apply for supervised practice.  These students will then submit their  Verification Statement along with the final official transcript listing the date of graduation and degree awarded before beginning the GCPD.

Prospective students who have already completed their didactic requirements should submit their Verification Statement from their Didactic Program Director with their GCPD application.
