Since 1987, the Northwest AETC has worked to improve the care of people living with HIV/AIDS in Washington, Alaska, Montana, Idaho, and Oregon (WAMIO). The Northwest AETC provides education, training, and clinical consultations to clinicians and other health and social service providers on the recognition and management of HIV infection. The Northwest AETC also offers technical assistance and capacity building to clinics and agencies involved in serving HIV-infected clients.

The Northwest AETC targets training to both highly experienced providers as well as those seeing fewer HIV-infected patients in their practice. Training programs include: preceptorships; clinical consultations (onsite, telephone and email); HIV/AIDS clinical updates; information/skills building training; and web-based learning modules.

The Northwest AETC, in collaboration with Pacific AETC, produces a series called, “Current Topics in HIV/AIDS Care” that is available in VHS or DVD formats. In addition, several other titles are available from the Northwest AETC. All are free to providers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii.
