Net Pen Aquaculture in Washington State
During the physical forum, held at CUH March 21-22nd, we heard from a variety of stakeholders. Participants represented state, tribal and federal governments, environmental groups, academia and industry. We had presentations and small group conversations that explored the current science, laws, regulations, diverse perspectives and passions surrounding net pen aquaculture. Everybody had chances to share their views. We listened with impartial ears, and we addressed comments and concerns in a neutral, friendly and solution-oriented environment. But two days of a physical forum are not enough to express everything about Net Pen Aquaculture; not everyone interested in the issue could attend the physical forum. So we created the online Virtual Forum.
The Virtual Forum is ongoing, participants are making more in-depth contributions toward defining problems and proposing actionable steps for addressing those problems. Participants will also get a chance to rank and express their agreement and disagreement with theirs and other participants’ perspectives. Please, register to join the virtual forum.
