Jami Bodonyi, MSW, Research Manager

Jami Bodonyi is an evaluation project manager at the University of Washington School of Social Work, Northwest Institute for Children and Families. She is managing a six-year evaluation of the Sound Families Initiative, an initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide service-enriched transitional housing to homeless families. Jami also oversees a multi-year evaluation of a HOPE VI public housing revitalization effort in Tacoma, Washington. She has a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Cornell University (1990) and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Washington (1996). Jami previously worked as the research analyst for Families for Kids, a foster care system change initiative with a focus on legally free children. She has also collaborated with University of Washington faculty on a child neglect fatality study as well as conducted various evaluation projects for public and private child welfare agencies. Jami has presented at several national conferences, including the American Evaluation Association Annual Conference, the National Alliance to End Homelessness Conference on Ending Family Homelessness, the CWLA Conference on Research in Child Welfare, and the U.S. Children’s Bureau Conference: Using Automation for Children and Families.

Kathy Brennan, MSW: Research Coordinator

Kathy Brennan joined the Evaluation Services team in 2001 and has supported evaluations related to foster care, homelessness, and early childhood education. She brings to program evaluation a strong background in collaboration and program administration. Ms. Brennan earned a Master's in Social Work from the University of Washington (1995). As Director of Family Support Centers at Lutheran Social Services, she led a county-wide partnership among family centers to promote healthy development among children and families. Kathy engaged community leaders and families to successfully launch both the South Everett Neighborhood Center and Familias Unidas: Latino Resource Center. She is able to employ evaluation methods relevant to the interests and needs of culturally diverse participants, and aims to share data in ways that are useful to key stakeholders.

Kate Grossman, MS, MA, Research Manager

Kate joined the NICF Evaluation Services team in February of 2006. Kate comes to the Institute with over 15 years of experience in program development and administration in human services, with particular emphasis on the development of housing and services for youth who are homeless or in out of home care. She brings a background in Counseling Psychology and Public Policy Studies and a passion for community engagement to her work. Kate is currently working on an evaluation of a promising best practice model for foster care, the Mockingbird Society Family Model; an evaluation supporting a collaborative effort led by the Children’s Home Society to provide comprehensive services to teen moms; and an evaluation of the YWCA’s GirlsFirst Program, which aims to help young women of color as they transition from middle school to high school to experience academic success, self-esteem, and develop leadership skills and career goals.

Renee Lamberjack, BA, Research Coordinator

Renee has been with the Institute since April 2005 and works in a support role on several evaluations including the Sound Families Initiative and the Early Head Start-University of Washington Partnership. Before coming to the Institute, Renee worked as a Women's Advocate at a shelter for single women and a Case Manager with transitional housing and eviciton prevention programs in Seattle. Renee graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 2001 with a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies and a focus on social inequality in urban areas.

Oma McLaughlin, MPH, Research Coordinator

Oma joined Evaluation Services in 2006. She supports evaluations of a training program for social workers (CWTAP) and of Family Group Conferencing. Oma completed her Master's in Public Health, with a focus on maternal and child health, through UW's Community-Oriented Public Health Practice program. Before coming to NICF, Oma worked on a King County project encouraging community-level action to increase children's school readiness.
