Treatments for Lipid Disorders

Medication

If diet therapy and other lifestyle changes are not enough for your condition, a variety of medications can be used. Different categories of medications lower LDL, lower triglycerides, and/or raise HDL cholesterol. For certain lipid disorders, two or more medications may be used for the best management.

The Northwest Lipid Research Clinic provides a weekly clinic for outpatients with hyperlipidemia. Being a patient at the lipid specialty clinic provides you assessment and treatment grounded in clinical expertise and comprehensive knowledge of recent research. The NWLRC also participates in clinical research on medications not normally available to most clinics and hospitals. You can learn more about volunteering for research studies to determine if you are interested in participating.
