New Investigator Award Application Instructions

Applications due by December 31st annually.

Application requirements (use NIH PHS 398 format):

1. Cover page
2. Budget page (format)
3. Biographical sketch (format)
4. Other support of applicant (format)
5. Mentor statement (one page)
6. Description of proposed research (six pages maximum)
   Use PHS 398 format, Part I, section 7 and include:
   A. Specific aims
   B. Background and significance
   C. Preliminary studies
   D. Research design and methods
   E. Human subjects (note: mandatory "Targeted/Planned Enrollment Table Format" page)
   F. Vertebrate animals
   G. Literature cited
7. Resources and environment available to applicant (format)
8. Outline of coursework and other training
9. Three signed letters of reference (no emails)
