For more than five decades, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has forged a tradition of excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and service. Under the leadership of chairs Russell de Alvarez, Charles Hunter, Walter Herrmann, Morton Stenchever, Steven Gabbe, and David Eschenbach working in collaboration with an outstanding faculty, the Department has had significant impact in each of these areas locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Our Goals

• Provide the highest quality primary and specialty women’s health care in a compassionate manner, in partnerships with our patients, their families, and our colleagues in the Medical Center and our community.
• Contribute actively to exemplary teaching for medical students, residents, fellows and other post-graduate scholars in our institution, community, region and nation.
• Participate in and encourage basic and clinical scientific investigation, including the evaluation of new technologies and patterns of practice.
• Maintain and foster the highest ethical and moral standards in all our activities.
