Welcome to Obstetrics and Gynecology!

This is an exciting time in your professional education and I hope that this clerkship will continue to challenge and inspire you. During your 6-week clerkship, you will have the opportunity to interact with women in all stages of life, from adolescence through and beyond menopause. You will experience a variety of obstetrical and gynecologic conditions. You will see patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings, participate in the care of laboring patients, attend deliveries and gynecologic surgeries, and gain an understanding of the primary care mission within our specialty.

As in all of your core clerkships, we will challenge you to not only learn the medicine of our field but also to grow as health care providers in general. You will learn many valuable skills during this rotation that will serve you well for the rest of your careers.

This is a dynamic, fast-paced area of medicine. My hope is that you will enjoy this clerkship, that it will stimulate your desire to be a “lifelong learner” and that you will appreciate what an honor it is to call yourself a physician.
