Introduction:
Welcome to Missoula, Montana. During your six week rotation in Missoula you will be working with three obstetrician-gynecologists who work at the Western Montana Clinic, a multispecialty clinic in Missoula. There are two hospitals in Missoula Missoula Community Medical Center and St. Patrick’s Hospital. The majority of your time will be spent at Community Hospital as all of the deliveries in Missoula are done at this hospital. Surgery will be done at both Community and St. Patrick’s Hospitals.
In this clerkship we hope to offer you a wide variety of experiences including basic obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and infertility.

Check-In:
Check-in is on the first day of the rotation at Dr. Givler’s or Dr Garnaas’s office on the Community Medical Center Campus, Physician’s Building #3, 3rd floor, at 8:30 a.m. Please call prior to the start of the rotation to see which Doctor you will be working with, as Dr. Garnaas does not work on Monday’s.
Directions to Office and Community Medical Center:
From I-90 take the Reserve St. exit heading south. Continue on Reserve St. past Rosauer’s Grocery (on left after several miles) and South Avenue. Take the first right on Ft. Missoula Rd. After approximately 1/2 mile, the medical center will be on your right. Just beyond that is Physician’s Building #3 (adjacent to Big Sky Surgery Center). The office is on the third floor.
Housing:
There will be a furnished apartment available to medical students for their six-week rotation. For more details, please contact the site coordinator.
Night Call:
During the six-week clerkship you will be assigned call every fourth to fifth night and one or two weekends. During the weekdays call begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 7:00 a.m. Weekend call begins at 5:00 p.m. Friday and ends at 7:00 a.m. Monday. The call schedule is quite flexible.
