Training, Education & Advocacy in Miscarriage Management

The goal of the Training, Education, and Advocacy in Miscarriage Management (TEAMM) project is to mainstream education and training in miscarriage management. We believe that office-based miscarriage management is an integral part of basic women's health care. In order to meet this goal it is essential that office-based management options are incorporated in the education and training for all clinicians and staff who interact with female patients of reproductive age. The project has demonstrated that it not only improves access to evidence-based miscarriage management curricula and clinical services, it also fosters space for conversations about comprehensive reproductive health services, including induced abortion, and the values of patient-centered, high-quality health care.

 

News and Upcoming Events

A regional training was offered in October 2014 in Seattle, WA and in Coeur d'Alene, ID for Eastern Washington and Idaho providers in April 2015. In Spring 2015, TEAMM is performing site interventions at Highland General Hospital OB/GYN and Emergency Medicine Departments in Oakland, CA; Country Doctor Community Health Centers in Seattle, WA; Seattle University School of Nursing in Seattle, WA; and Kootenai Clinic in Coeur d'Alene, ID. The TEAMM South Carolina team performed a site intervention at USC OB/GYN Columbia Palmetto Health Richland Residency in 2014 and MUSC Ob/Gyn East Cooper in 2015.
