A high school dropout, Nelson Del Rio (’84) came to the UW at age 19, with encouragement from the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity and scholarship support. He graduated magna cum laude with Great Distinctions in Economics three years later, then graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School. Nelson became a Wall Street merger and acquisition attorney, then moved on to a successful business career, philanthropy, and best of all a wonderful family.
