Save the date for the Samuel E. Kelly Distinguished Faculty Lecture, Wednesday, April 21, 2010.

The Samuel E. Kelly Distinguished Faculty Lecture honors Dr. Kelly's vision of equity in society and contributes to our knowledge of diversity and its dimensions: race, ethnicity, class, gender, religion, sexual orientation, nation and nationhood, disability, and age. Dr. Kelly, who founded the Office of Minority Affairs in 1970 and served as its first Vice President, created a vision of how the University could and should meet its obligation to students regardless of color or economic status. He spearheaded new models of admissions, counseling, and academic support that have been emulated across the nations.

Accomplishments

This year the CPR team accomplished many firsts while successfully executing annual projects. CPR successfully published the inaugural of our twice yearly E-Newsletter, in partnership with UWAA. The E-News reaches staff, alumni and community members to keep them informed on the significant work here in OMAD. In addition, we collaborated with UWAA on the previously mentioned Viewpoints, which was very positively received by Alumni and community members. In other media we launched a new suite of websites, in collaboration with the Outreach & Recruitment Team, on the UW Diversity page geared towards the Native American community. This Native Life & Tribal Relations area of the website includes comprehensive information on the annual Tribal Summit, progress on the House of Knowledge, links to all Native related program and organizations on as well as a featured area for news and student organization meetings. We were also the recipient of a grant to build a new web site for the College Spark Washington State Early Outreach Program.
