Save the date for the Samuel E. Kelly Distinguished Faculty Lecture, Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
The Samuel E. Kelly Distinguished Faculty Lecture honors Dr. Kelly's vision of equity in society and contributes to our knowledge of diversity and its dimensions: race, ethnicity, class, gender, religion, sexual orientation, nation and nationhood, disability, and age. Dr. Kelly, who founded the Office of Minority Affairs in 1970 and served as its first Vice President, created a vision of how the University could and should meet its obligation to students regardless of color or economic status. He spearheaded new models of admissions, counseling, and academic support that have been emulated across the nations.
Alumni Focus
The collaboration between CPR and UWAA is crucial to returning alumni to campus, fostering relationships with them, and promoting annual giving. CPR does this by organizing Alumni focused events such as our first annual Alumni Remix as well as honoring alumni accomplishments and identifying alumni needs and interests. This year we collaborated on Viewpoints magazine to write an article for their Spring 2009 issue titled 40 Under 40, which highlighted forty alumni under the age of forty who are leaders and innovators in their respective careers. We also hosted several Alumni Focus Groups with the intention of discovering interest in alumni affinity groups. These meetings were followed by Alumni Affinity Group Meetings where we presented our plans for the upcoming year to create these affinity groups.
