Rangel & Pickering Graduate Fellowships; Fulbright Mitacs program in Canada; NSF GRFP applications open

Several scholarship programs have officially opened their
application processes this week, with deadlines coming in early fall. These
programs are applicable to students from a broad range of fields, so check them
out to learn more:

  • Fulbright Canada- Mitacs Globalink internship program: This program will provide high performing students with the opportunity to be part of a 10 to 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences. The program prefers applications from 3rd year undergraduate students, but 2nd year students are also eligible. US citizenship is required. Apply by Sept. 30.
  • Pickering and Rangel Graduate Fellowships: If you are a US citizen interested in becoming a US State Department Foreign Service Officer, the Pickering and Rangel Graduate Fellowships provide funding and support for relevant graduate degree programs and entry into FSO appointments. Deadlines to apply are Oct. 21 & Oct 14, respectively. Both programs encourage applications from members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need.
  • NSF GRFP: If you are planning to pursue a research-based graduate program in fields within Social Science, Psychology, STEM, or STEM Education (with special encouragement this year for applications from students within fields related to Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Information Science, and Computationally Intensive Research), the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program application is now open. This program provides 3 years of funding toward research-based master’s or PhD programs in a wide variety of fields. US citizenship or permanent residency is required. Deadlines October 19-22.
