Students & SOUSA ESPN Unified Sports Challenge

The 2018 Special Olympics USA Games are rapidly approaching (14 days!), and with it comes a wonderful opportunity for our students. As you know, Special Olympics USA Games is staging their first-ever ESPN / Special Olympics Unified Sports Challenge. This fun and engaging event brings together teams of executives and their employees, sports and entertainment celebrities, and Special Olympics athletes, who will compete in a variety of unified sports activities in efforts to strengthen the spirit of inclusion and raise funds for Special Olympics and local charities. The UW team will be led by Ana Mari, and joined by Coach Hop, Kelli Kingma, and a Special Olympics athlete (thank you Brian!). ESPN and SOUSA are hoping to have an engaged and enthusiastic group of individuals cheering on the teams and it seemed like a perfect activity for students. The students would have a chance to be on the televised broadcast of the event, as well as free entrance to this great event, and a chance to see local celebrities, sports legends, and inspiring athletes. I’m hoping you might be willing to help us recruit a group of approximately 75 students (or faculty, staff, etc. in your areas) that might be interested in attending.

Students who participate are asked to be at Husky Ballpark on July 1st, from 3:30 – 5:45/6 p.m. (immediately following the Opening Ceremonies) and are encouraged to be decked-out in their favorite Husky gear.
