Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) at the University of Washington is looking for Tutors.  SAAS needs to hire 20 hourly employees for the upcoming academic year.

Here is a list of available positions:  Faculty Liaison, Content Tutor, and Drop-In Session Tutors.  Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, however to be considered for Autumn Quarter 2013, please apply by September 6, 2013.

1. TUTORS NEEDED- ALL ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES (specifically: Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Geography, English, Business Courses (i.e. Accounting, Management, etc.), Economics (200, 201, 300, and 301), Physics (110 and 114-224), Astronomy (101 and 150), Swahili, Communications, Statistics, Psychology (up to 300 level), Drama all levels, ESRM, American Ethic Studies, American Indian Studies, ATM S, Music, Anthropology, Global Health,  Environmental Health, Quantitative Science, Quantitative Methods, Linguistics, Classics (101, 205, 210, 324) Mechanical Engineering (ME 123), HSTAM, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE 142 and 143), Law Society and Justice and Sociology).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Content tutor student-athletes in specific discipline, complete online reports after each session, attend study skills and training throughout the quarter, and assist students with developing quarterly study plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

Tutoring experience is helpful, but we will train you.  Must be a patient communicator with ability to both explain material and test for comprehension.  Minimum 3.3 or higher GPA in courses you would like to tutor, good study skills, professional work ethic and attitude.  Additionally, tutors must be able to balance tutoring appointments with own class schedule.

Educational Benefits:

Tutors are able to sit in on classes (Faculty Liaisons only), work with professors, gain experience as an educator, and develop interpersonal communication skills.

Application deadline for Autumn Quarter 2013 is September 6, 2013.  Pay rates are aligned with union pay scale. Pay depends on degree status and experience. Students and non-students are welcome to apply for positions.  Work Study students are STRONGLY encouraged to apply.
