Things have been VERY busy in the lab these last days, the new class is working
on their first lab. Also, we are trying out several new powders with our collaborators
on other campuses. We also received an invitation to both present physical work and
provide a lecture at ARS Mathematica.
Since we will be discussing our cementenous material, it seemed like producing new
work in this material would be appropriate.
The work was designed by Duane Storti and is called MesoBio. It is a combination of
the calcaneous and talus bones and a surface which is equal distance between the two bones.
The work was designed by Mark Ganter and is called Moai Jonchets. Jonchet is a
French variant of the game called “pick up sticks”.
This work was created by Laura West, our collaborator from Fresno City College.
She is the visiting artist and metalcaster that worked with us on the cementenous formula.
Laura West will be presenting with us this week at ARS Mathematica.
Please check out the other amazing pieces of art at ARS Mathematica.
