While the tone in our lab has been quite hectic this last week, a couple of our graduate students (Grant Marchelli and Charlie Wyman) thought they had an interesting idea.   Last week, Charlie worked on a couple of company logos in cast glass.    After his wonderful success, Grant and Charlie designed an interesting concept piece.  The  mold was printed.   The kiln glass run was started.   Nothing left to do but wait (about 18 hours).  Then, there was a rush to kiln to see what was finished.

On Thursday, this is what greeted us to “ooohs and aaahs”.

You are looking through a piece of cast glass  about 25 mm thick.   Amazing!   Kiln cast glass produced by direct print 3DP molds.
