AIDS-Related Clinical Trials

Several AIDS-related clinical trials continue between the University of Washington and its affiliated institutions. Elaine L. Chuang is collaborating with coworkers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center to explore current and future management of CMV retinitis in patients with AIDS whose immune system has responded to newer medical therapy. Another related, NIH-funded research trial will attempt to amplify and reconstitute CMV-specific host immunity in populations who are immune-suppressed, including following bone-marrow or other transplantation, and HIV infection.
