The Sidney Futterman Memorial Lecture

The Futterman Lecture occurs annually in honor of Sidney Futterman, a member of the University of Washington Department of Ophthalmology faculty from 1966 until his death in 1979. Dr. Futterman's research on the metabolism of vitamin A in the retina is widely recognized. He received the Friedenwald Award, one of the most prestigious honors of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the year before his death.

The next Futterman Lecture will be held Thursday, May 24, 2007. Our invited guest speaker will be Joshua L. Dunaief, MD, PhD, of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The title of Dr. Dunaief's talk will be: "Iron Induced Oxidative Damage as a Potential Culprit in Retinal Disease" The lecture will be held in Room K-069 of the Health Sciences Center at 10:00am.
