![]() Ophthalmic Imaging ![]() The Department of Ophthalmology features a fully-equipped ophthalmic imaging unit that provides photographic and digital documentation for patient care, clinical research, and vision research activities. A photographic laboratory has been available for vision research at the University of Washington since 1967. Beginning in 1976, the Vision CORE Grant, funded by the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health, has provided partial support for the Research Imaging/Photography Module. The RI/P Module provides essential services to vision investigators at the University of Washington for their individual and collaborative research projects. These services range from gel photography, film processing, and printing electron microscope negatives to on-site photography for various research projects. While directing its service primarily to NEI R01-funded investigators, the RI/P Module has provided photography and imaging services for virtually all CORE investigators. The services include printing of study and publication light and electron micrographs, black & white film development, macrophotography, and production of slides and posters for research presentations. The imaging facility has been updated and new equipment has been added, resulting in efficient utilization of space and high productivity. A major strength is that our photographers are highly skilled and trained to perform vision-related work. OPHTHALMIC IMAGING UNIT |
