We were honored to have Prof.\u00a0Jianhua\u00a0Wang (\u738b\u5efa\u83ef\u6559\u6388) as a speaker of our monthly community forum.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/oralhist\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2.pic_.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-645\" src=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/oralhist\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2.pic_.jpg\" alt=\"2.pic\" width=\"815\" height=\"555\" srcset=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/oralhist\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2.pic_.jpg 815w, http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/oralhist\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2.pic_-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 815px) 100vw, 815px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Dr. Wang Answers Questions from the Audience<\/p>\n<p>Francis C. Wang was born in April of 1937 in the Rockefellers Memorial Hospital,\u00a0Beijing, China.\u00a0In June of 1949, he came to Taiwan with his family after fleeing the Chinese\u00a0mainland as the result of a complete defeat of the Nationalists by the Chinese\u00a0Communists in a civil war. He graduated from National Cheng-Kung University in\u00a01960 with a BS in Transportation Management. In 1962 he came to America as a\u00a0student. In the next 10 years he worked hard to get an education in Electrical\u00a0Engineering. Eventually in 1972 he obtained a Ph. D from University of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>From 1972 through 1990 he worked in industry and the companies he worked\u00a0for included Bell Telephone Laboratories and the Boeing Company. For the following\u00a025 years of his career, he became an educator at several universities as a professor,\u00a0department head, dean, and president. After retirement in 2002 when reaching 65 years\u00a0of age, he continued to teach part time at various Universities in the Puget Sound area\u00a0and currently teaches in the EE Department at University of Washington.
