The following is a list of resolutions passed by the members
of APHA between 1949-2000. Resolutions are intended to represent
the position of the organization in a wide variety of public health
arenas, and help direct the organization's resources to support public
health policy on the local, state, and national levels. Most
importantly, OHS section members should look to relevant policy statements
and apply them where they may be useful in promoting improvements to workplace
and environmental health and safety.
Many of these items are in need of being updated with more current information,
particularly those passed prior to 1995. Some may benefit from being
consolidated with others. Ultimately, these policy statements will
be available to anyone via the APHA web page and are expected to be a useful
tool to public health advocates everywhere. It is important that
they be up-to-date, well-documented, and represent the best public health
science and practice.
Anyone interested in reviewing any of these resolutions to assist in
updating them, please contact Mary
Miller or phone 360.902.6041. Please step forward, operators
are waiting to take your call.
The first two digits in each resolution number listed below indicates
the year they were passed by the APHA Governing Council. The links
to the full text of the OHS and other related resolutions passed up to 2000 are provided in the following table. You can link to the APHA
web page to view the full text of any other resolutions passed to the present at http://www.apha.org/legislative/policy/.
The full Index of all resolutions passed since 1949 is also available at
that site. Those passed in 2004 will be linked once they are on the APHA
web page.
