The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington offers training for the following:
MD Training:
Medical students: UW and visiting students may elect to take either a 2-week or 4-week clerkship rotating at any of the affiliated hospitals (Children's Hospital and Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Pacific Medical Center, Veteran's Administration, University of Washington Medical Center).
Residency: Medical school graduates who match with the department receive their otolaryngology training, including intensive research training at the University of Washington and affiliated hospitals.
Fellowships: Post-residency training is available in head and neck oncology, laryngology, facial plastics, or pediatric otolaryngology.
Annual Courses: Educational opportunities which include continuing medical education (CME) courses offered for credit for our physicians as well as community physicians. Several courses are offered every year.
PhD Training:
Predoctoral training: Positions for PhD trainees who are engaged in dissertation research in one of the basic science laboratories are available.
Postdoctoral training: Fully funded full-time postdoctoral research positions are available in one of the our affiliated communication disorder laboratories.
