Dictating with Digital Express/Dictaphone

Report Content and Order:
Attending radiologists, please state your name. Residents and fellows, please state your name and attending’s name.
Patient identifiers (Two should be given: patient name, U#, or accession number)
Reason for exam (i.e. brief clinical history, indication)
Exam, date and time (Modality and study. Plain films should include film count)
Technique
Findings
Impression
Work types:
9-Breast studies, 10-Inpatient chest/abdomen, 18-Childrens, 24-Ultrasound, 26-angiography, 31-Neuro, 36-Body CT/MRI, 66-SCCA, 95-UWPN
ACCESS SYSTEM:
Touch LOG-ON (you will hear “I.D. Number” prompt)
Key in your user I.D. Number (billing number or EPIC number).
- Touch key labeled with correct WORK TYPE
Fellows/Residents must press the # key; then prompted for “Department”, key attendings # or use pre-programmed key on Dictaphone).
Attending radiologists are ready to dictate by keying in the pre-programmed ID key.
DICTATE:
Key in Primary Accession Number, #. If more studies to be associated, key each accession number followed by # key.
Lift microphone and press RECORD, or lift telephone handset and press button on side. If using telephone, do not dictate with SPEAKER light on.
Replace microphone and press STOP on station, or hang up telephone handset.
EDIT:
For a short review, press REWIND/PLAY on hand mic or press up on telephone handset bar, and release to play back and listen through last correct word.
Press STOP on hand mic or pull down on telephone handset bar.
Press RECORD on hand mic or telephone handset button to dictate over previously dictated material.
COMPLETE:
Mark impression by pressing 9 before dictating impression.
Mark STAT by pressing 6 to give report priority status.
Press end on mic or STOP on station if using telephone handset to complete report.
For new report of same work type press same W. T. key on Dictaphone. Key in new accession number and follow dictation instructions.
