City of Kenmore: Internship Opportunity
As an intern for the City of Kenmore you will be assisting the Traffic Engineer with creating and maintaining a safe, effective, and efficient traffic environment for the residents, road users, and multi-modal travelers of Kenmore! The position consists primarily of traffic engineering related duties, though other engineering duties may be assigned as needed.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- You are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with a major in Civil Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or similar field.
- You are available to 30-40 hours per week during the summer, and 8-20 hours per week when school is in session (flexibility may be allowed for studies and testing).
- You have the ability to operate conventional motor vehicles in order to perform work in various locations.
- You are able to work in the office and in the field under normal and inclement weather conditions.
Preferred:
- You have previous or current coursework in traffic or transportation engineering
- You have excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail, especially in creating public-facing correspondence
- You have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- You have familiarity with ArcGIS software
- You have familiarity with AutoDesk AutoCAD software
- You have experience in conducting independent research
Licenses and Certificates:
- Because you will be traveling to locations throughout the City of Kenmore to perform your work, a valid Washington State Driver’s License with a good driving record is required. If you are selected for this position, you must provide a three (3) year driving record abstract prior to hire.
