    Internship Opportunity- City of Redmond

    The city of Redmond is looking to hire a Traffic Operations Intern to support their Traffic Operations Safety and Engineering Division.     Interns work with engineering staff members to:

    • Field Inspect Traffic Control against approved plans
    • Data entry and modeling of pavement conditions
    • ADA Ramp measurement and documentation
    • Assist signal techs set up and take down of traffic control and assist with repairs
    • Survey CCTV views for tree blockage

    Tasks include fieldwork, updating and maintaining files, processing data and other duties as assigned


    – Must be currently working towards a degree or certification in civil engineering, or a closely related field such as: Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technician program at a Vocational school.

    – Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work consists of field inspections that can expose the employee to inclement weather and the hazards of a construction site or traffic and requires climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. Ability to maneuver on uneven terrain. Indoor work consists of using a computer and requires the incumbent to sit for potentially long periods of time. Some lifting may be required

    – A valid Washington State driver’s license is required by date of hire and a driving record that meets the City’s driving standards.  

    – Must obtain a Washington State Flagger card within one month of hire (City will assist).
