    TranSmart: Internship Opportunities

    TranSmart is looking for undergraduate and graduate college students pursuing engineering degrees to apply for summer internships with them in their Chicago office. Applicants should be at a sophomore level or higher in an engineering degree program focused on roadway design, drainage, traffic, electrical, or structural engineering.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare maps and plans

    • Visit sites to ensure proper installation of products

    • Respond to queries of public and other departments in a satisfactory manner

    • Perform daily duties such as issuance of permits and review of applications

    • Perform compilation of data and convert them into plans

    • Make an estimation of the cost of materials and read and interpret technical documents

    • Maintain files and supporting documentation in accordance with company policy and accepted

    practices

    • Construction inspection or field reconnaissance as assigned (within in the Chicagoland region)

    • Performs other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Working towards a bachelor’s or graduate degree in an engineering degree program from an

    accredited ABET-EAC university

    • Ability to read blueprints and work independently on tasks assigned

    • Knowledge of engineering standards as well as state and local regulations a plus

    • Skilled at operating CAD systems and applications

    • Willingness to work in the field as requested, keeping safety as a priority

    • Valid Illinois driver’s license, preferred
